Camp Menzies 2006

Despite the cold and the occasional snowflake, we accomplished a great deal and helped get the camp ready for this year's group of happy camping Girl Scouts. 

        

Service Camps - 2003

April 11-12 -  Millerton Lake Service Camp -  at Millerton Lake State Park. Camping Women are given their own private camping loop overlooking the lake. We work on Saturday and enjoy the camp site and one another's company the rest of the week-end. A great service to the CA State Parks. To see Photos, click here.

June 20-22 - Balboa Park Service Project - Arrive around 4 pm on Friday June 20. This will be held at the 7 acre Camp Fire USA camp in Balboa Park in san Diego that is in need of some sprucing up before the summer day camps start. Camp  name is "Camp on a Hill in Town" - CAHITO. Camping is free in exchange for the work - mostly pulling weeds, raking and painting tables. Morongo Basin and L.A./Beach Cities chapters are interested in helping. Contact Irene C. who has been volunteering for the Camp Fire Girls (Now Camp Fire) for 32 years! - (760)753-6120 or email: iczechpets@aol.com  Please contact  Irene ASAP so she can get a headcount.  She will send  directions.                 

August 22-24, 2003 - Camp Menzies National Service Camp - Where the Girl Scouts provide platform tent with cots, or plenty of space for tents and RVs, plus food - in exchange for doing some major building and repair projects to get the camp ready for next year's campers. This service camp has been held in the Spring in past years, but the Girl Scouts can use our services better in the Fall. It's beautiful weather at the 5,000 foot elevation in the Sierra Mountains near Calaveras Big Trees State Park and above Angel's Camp, California. So, mark the date on your calendar. Joshua Tree National Park Service Camp - January, 2003. This service is the maintenance of the Julie Miller memorial nature trail in Joshua Tree National Park in 29 Palms, California.
