Camping tips from Camping Women

This page is a collection of useful camping tips provided by the people who have discovered them, one way or another.  These tips are for all kinds of campers, no matter what they camp in.  If you have a tip you would like to share with Camping Women, or potential Camping Women, email it to Joey at joeyj2550@sbcglobal.net.

  • For people with popup trailers (aka tent trailers) - don't forget to put the jacks down before you extend the beds and especially before you climb on to the extended bed for any reason.  It is also a good idea to have the tongue support in contact with the ground also.

  • Make sure that the stabilizer jacks are up before taking off to hit the road.

  • Keep your cooking oil from getting everything around it greasy by putting the bottle in an old (clean) sock.  The sock will absorb the oil if it spills or leaks and can easily be washed.

  • Always carry a large trash bag with you.  It can become a rain poncho should you get caught in a surprise shower. Cut holes for head and arms and there you go.

  • A handy way of carrying a bit of duct tape with you is to wrap it around your water bottle.
