Sierra Foothills Chapter of Camping Women

(Serving Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties, California)

The Sierra Foothills chapter has many outdoor activities planned and in the planning stages. Camping is just one of the activities we enjoy. We hike, bike, raft, ski, do orienteering, and welcome other women who enjoy these kinds of activities.

Chapter meetings are now on the Fourth (4th) Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm at the Pine Tree Restaurant on the north corner of Hess and Hwy. 108.

Thursday hikes continue and now there are Monday hikes also. Contact Betty at zertuche1980@sbcglobal.net for more information or to get on the information list.

April

25-26 - Trip to Sacramento with a stay in a restored Victorian Mansion. The Sacramento Hostel has been restored and is $22 per night. Explore the downtown and old town areas of Sacramento. Lots to do. Contact Lori at alalorey@yahoo.com.

10 - Hike 'n Dine - Details coming.

23 - 25 - Camp Menzies National Service Camp - An annual event where we help prepare the Girl Scout Camp for the summer season. Cost is $20 for food. Contact Charlotte & Shirley is you are going at shirlotte@comcast.net.

15 or 23 - Campout at Kyburz - Off Hwy. 50 above Pollock Pines. Details coming.

23-29 - Invitational - This year Invitational will be held at Gold Pines RV Resort in Camp Connell near Calaveras Big Trees. Check out the Invitational page for details, registration forms, etc.

11-13 - Loon Lake Campout - Located off Hwy. 50 above Pollock Pines. Contact Mary at mary_field@sbcglobal.net.

24-27 - 4th Annual Boat-In at Utica Lake - Bring kayaks and overnight gear. Contact Donna at dholstrom@fastmail.net for more info.

Horse assisted Pack Trip - the destination is Jewelry and Gem Lakes sometime in late August. Contact Lori at alalorey@yahoo.com.

31-Sept. 3 - Saddlebag Lakes Campout - Cost is $14, but may be adjusted depending on the turnout. Contact Delphine at delphine@cwnet.com.

3-6 - Bristlecone Pine Campout - South of Bishop at 10,000 ft elevation. These are some of the oldest living things. Contact Lori at alalorey@yahoo.com.

Ongoing Activities

Chapter meetings are the 4thTuesday of the month at the Pine Tree Restaurant.
Thursday/Monday Morning Walks - Betty is organizing this. Walks are approximately 1 1/2 hours. If you wish to join in, email Betty at zertuche1980@sbcglobal.net, then check your email on Wednesday evening for information on the Thursday walk.
